“To remind yourself that, while God may count every hair on your head, you’re really not important enough for the color of your shoes to wreck anything that matters.”
Isn’t this the best sentiment? And perfect for a Monday morning. The whole philosophy of ‘don’t sweat the small stuff; and it’s all small stuff’ is easier to embrace as you get older, I’ve found. But that quote from http://www.writingyourwaytojoy.blogspot.com/ really sums it up. Somebody embroider that on a pillow!
While red shoes can’t wreck anything, I firmly believe they can make any situation more fabulous. Think about it, you’re caught in the rain, wearing nothing but a trench coat (hello!), hair plastered to your face/head/neck, but if you wore red shoes, you could still show up at your intended destination and laugh it off! Had you worn brown shoes that day, then you would’ve been pissed.
I guess while you shouldn’t sweat the small stuff you should also embrace the little things that can make a big difference. Be it shoes, a good shampoo, the perfect pillows for your couch, being the only one to see a woodpecker or hummingbird, seeing a stranger helping someone out, picking up the garbage that missed the can, watching all the flowers/leaves blow off a tree on a blustery, sunny day, surprising someone with a cup of coffee or being surprised when someone brings you a cup of coffee. I think those moments are the meaning of life. We work really had and maybe suffer a lot, but those moments of oneness and connection are the reward for it all.
Hope you experience that today….lemme know if you do/did/have.

I totally feel this. That’s why I like to take walks around my neighborhood after work–I usually see something pretty or run into somebody nice. Makes my day better than average!
